A Home Away From Home!
Nestled in woodland within the South Downs National Park and designed by an award winning architect are Badgers Rest and Foxes Hollow - two 1-bedroom woodland cabins. The two oak framed cabins are within a stones throw of the historic and beautiful village, Alfriston - and have recently won a Prestige Award for the Best Cabin 2022.With a log burner, flushing toilets, hot showers and an abundance of cosy charm, why not enjoy a relaxing stay in one our cabins all year round? Relax in the comfort of our beautiful, fully equipped luxurious cabins. Reconnect around the firepit and unwind in the wood fired hot tub in each of our cabins.
Child friendly, with friends, or simply a romantic getaway – why not bring your dog too? Each cabin has a double bed on the mezzanine and a comfortable double sofa bed downstairs.
Experience local wildlife outside your window, inhale the fresh country air and be amazed at the surrounding countryside and the beach is not far too.
Let your imagination and sense of adventure go wild!
If you’re lucky, you may even see a fox, badger, woodpecker, butterflies and swans to name a few. Or hear the twit twoo of an owl. Also look out for the amazing Spitfire airplane flying across the river from time to time.

The cabins are open all year – a great place to explore with children, dog friendly, a romantic night away, special occasions, mountain bikers, paragliders, canoeists, star gazers, painters or why not rent both of our cabins with friends!
We have lovely woodburners in the cabins for those cozy nights in, or hire a firepit and sit under the stars. Many of our visitors walk or cycle to our cabins and then continue on and complete part or all of the South Downs Way. We also have an electric car charging point and are working towards becoming carbon-neutral. If you would like to travel via train, we now have our own private hire licence and are happy to arrange to pick you up from local train stations for a fixed fee.

- Places of interest: We are located within a short stroll of the historic village of Alfriston, which has pubs, tearooms and shops for browsing. Within the South Downs National Park and on the route for the South Downs Way makes our location popular with walkers and those that like to spend time in the great outdoors. Visiting places such as Cuckmere Haven, Seven Sisters cliffs, Friston Forest and other nearby villages and towns.
- Cancellation Policy: Agent bookings terms can be found on their associated websites. For direct bookings of 1 night we require full payment. For longer bookings we require £150 deposit for the cabins/ £100 for the Shepherds Huts and the balance 1 calendar month before arrival. For bookings made less than 1 month before arrival, the total amount is payable in full on booking. For direct bookings the Guest agrees to pay the balance of the payment One calendar month before the holiday is due to start. Email reminders are sent, but delivery cannot be guaranteed. Where a Guest fails to pay their balance by the due date the booking may be cancelled and the deposit retained.
- Additional Fees: We do have some extra’s on site (subject to availability), please do let us know if you would like us to prepare these ahead of your stay. Happy for you to let me know once the weather forecast is more reliable: * Wood Fired hot tub option for the duration of your stay @ £50 per night, minimum of 2 nights *Firepit/BBQ hire for the duration of your stay - includes a sack of wood and accessories £22.50 (For safety we ask that there are no outside fires without the firepit please). Do let us know if you would like some marshmallows or some of our sausages – we have a pack of 6 at £4, 2 burgers for £3 and unsmoked bacon for £4, for you to enjoy on the BBQ or take home *Fresh eggs from our chickens £2.50 (6 eggs), or 2 for £1. Please do leave the egg box in the cabin so that we can fully recycle – eggs are subject to availability *Additional bag of dry logs £8.50 * Home made jams, chutneys and marmalade £3.00 * Freshly pressed apple juice from our own orchard £3.50 per litre or 3 for £10 * We offer electric car charging to our guests by invitation and charge a per kwh rate * Well behaved dogs are welcome for an additional £5 per dog per night (1 large or 2 small/medium dogs are suitable for the cabin) We also offer a drinks selection of: Rathfinny Sparkling Classic Cuvee 75cl Long Man Brewery - Helles Lager 330ml, Best Bitter 500ml and Long Blonde 500ml Bottle of red (Malbec) Bottle of White (Sauvignon) Bottle of Prosecco We also offer a late check out of midday or early check in of 1.30 pm, whenever possible, should you wish to take advantage of a longer relaxing morning before heading home, or starting your well deserved break early. There is an additional charge of £15 for each, and please make sure late check outs/early check ins are confirmed with us ahead of your stay as they cannot be guaranteed. We supply a maximum of 2 medium adult hot tub robes per stay when booked with the hot tub, additional robes can be hired for £5 each.
