Leave the car and meander through the pretty market town, visiting the many quaint shops and eateries. Pack your golf clubs and enjoy 18 holes at the Rothbury Golf Course.

Rothbury is situated in the Coquet Valley at the foot of  the rugged Simonside Hills in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside. Rothbury’s small market town is a peaceful haven and an ideal base from which to explore the spectacular Northumberland countryside and coast, its castles, stately homes, areas of natural beauty, historic landmarks, and fascinating history. There are many places to see and things to do locally, so be sure to plan your adventures. The town has an abundance of independent shops, galleries, eateries and pubs, a bakery and a butcher.

If you enjoy visiting historic houses, be sure to visit the nearby National Trust property of Cragside House and Gardens, the UK’s fascinating first-ever ‘smart’ home, located at the far end of the village. Located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, there are numerous country and forest trails to discover on your doorstep, providing a haven for ramblers and wildlife alike. If you are packing your golf clubs, then head to Rothbury Golf Course, with spectacular valley views and a clubhouse.

Armstrong Cottage is situated in Northumberland’s Dark Sky Park, Europe’s largest area of protected night sky.  Enjoy uninterrupted stargazing from the cottage, or even head to nearby Kielder Observatory.

Enjoying a peaceful elevated position, the property boasts splendid views across the valley and Rothbury Golf Course below the hillside. Once you’ve parked your car to the rear, walk up the steps along the gravel path to the entrance and step into the beautiful open-plan, light, and airy space with splendid views outside.

In the kitchen, there is everything you need to prepare a meal for family or friends, equipped with two electric ovens and induction hob, fridge, freezer, washer dryer, and dishwasher. You can then gather round the table and enjoy the homemade meal. The lounge is the hub of this home; it’s easy to imagine cosy evenings in front of the wood burner whilst watching a movie on the Smart TV which features a full Sky package and Netflix, the perfect setting to unwind after the day’s events.

Follow the hall to the gorgeous bathroom with shower over bath and WC. The first of the bedrooms is a large bedroom with king-size bed and an en-suite shower room and WC. The other two bedrooms include super-king-size zip-and-link beds (zip-and-link beds can be made up as twins on request).

Outside, there is plenty of outdoor space with seating for warm evenings or a coffee in the fresh air on a morning. There is off-road parking for three cars.
